News88 Blog Of The Day 04/01/2005: Governor Senate And House 2005-2006 Election Cycle
Please refer back to the blog of the day for 03/05/2005. Saturday, March 05, 2005 for your information, for more information.
Yesterdays state: Pennsylvania.
Todays state: New Jersey.
Tomorrows state: New York.
Governor - Acting Governor Richard Codey (D), also the State Senate President and leader of the Democratic Majority of that chamber obviously i think, took office after the bitter scandalized 2001 first term elected Governor Jim McGreevey (D) resigned in 2004. Codey (D) is not in the running for a full term in his own right in the 2005 gubernatorial governors race election, and there is a widely open race for the right to be the next Governor of New Jersey there in 2005. Democrats though, however, are coalesceing behind Senior Senator Jon Corzine (D), to become the next governor, and he faces no formal primary opposition, and Republicans are up in a huge primary field. I can already make my prediction as to whom will probably win this race, and it probably most likely as long as if he stays in, will most likely go to Jon Corzine, who will under the NJ Constitution of the state appoint a successor to his senate seat, making Junior Senator Frank Lautenberg, once a former Senior/Junior Senator, Senior Senator once again of the other senate seat in New Jersey. Thoughts on the New Jersey race? Post your comments.
Senate - Senior Senator Jon Corzine (D) is up again in 2006, though he is currently running for Governor and may likely have an appointed successor in a special election for this seat and/or for a fullterm in 2006's race, while Junior Senator Frank Lautenberg (D) is not up again until 2008. Thoughts on this race? Post your comments.
House - District 1 - Andrews (D)
District 2 - LoBiondo (R)
District 3 - Saxton (R)
District 4 - Smith (R)
District 5 - Garrett (R)
District 6 - Pallone (D)
District 7 - Ferguson (R)
District 8 - Pascrell (D)
District 9 - Rothman (D)
District 10 - Payne (D)
District 11 - Frelinghuysen (R)
District 12 - Holt (D)
