News88 Blog Of The Day 02/28/2005: Wikipedia Daily Article 02/28/2005

http://www.wikipedia.org Wikipedia Daily Article 02/28/2005

The Hrafnkels saga is an Icelandic saga telling of struggles between chieftains in the east of Iceland in the 10th century. The eponymous main character, Hrafnkell, starts out his career as a fearsome duelist and a dedicated worshipper of the god Freyr. After suffering defeat, humiliation, and the destruction of his temple, he becomes an atheist. His character changes and he becomes more peaceful in dealing with others. After gradually rebuilding his power base for several years, he achieves revenge against his enemies and lives out the rest of his life as a powerful and respected chieftain. The saga has been read as the story of a man who realizes that the true basis of power is not belief in the gods but the loyalty of one's subordinates. It is widely read today and appreciated for its logical structure, plausibility and vivid characters. For these reasons, it has served as a test case in the dispute on the origins of the Icelandic sagas.

The Great Lakes Storm of 1913 was a blizzard with hurricane-force winds that devastated the Great Lakes basin in the United States Midwest and the Canadian province of Ontario from November 7 to November 10, 1913. The deadliest natural disaster to ever hit the lakes, it killed over 250 people, destroyed 19 ships, and stranded 19 others. The financial loss in vessels alone was nearly USD$5 million, or about US$100 million in present-day adjusted dollars. The large loss of cargo, including coal, iron ore, and grain, meant short-term rising prices for consumer products throughout North America. The storm originated as the convergence of two major storm fronts that was fuelled by the lakes' relatively warm waters, a seasonal process historically called a "November gale." It produced 90 mile per hour (145 km/hour) winds, waves over 35 feet (11 m) high, and whiteout snow squalls.

http://www.wikipedia.org Wikipedia Daily Article 02/26/2005

The Lord's Resistance Army is a rebel paramilitary group operating in northern Uganda, and as of February 2005 is engaged in an armed conflict against the Ugandan government. It is led by Joseph Kony, who proclaims himself a spirit medium and apparently wishes to establish a state based on his unique interpretation of Biblical millenarianism. The rebels have been accused of many atrocities in the area. It is estimated that around 20,000 children have been kidnapped by the group since 1987 for use as as soldiers and sex slaves. LRA practices such as mutilation, enforced prostitution and enlisting children under the age of 15 into armed groups are war crimes. The group abducts its members primarily from the Acholi people, but it lacks widespread support among the Acholis, who have been the victims of many of its tactics. The insurgency has been mainly contained to the region known as Acholiland, consisting of the districts of Kitgum, Gulu, and Pader, though since 2002 violence has overflowed into other districts, including Lira, Apac and Adjumani.

Wikipedia Daily Article 02/25/2005 http://www.wikipedia.org

Sir John Vanbrugh was an English architect and dramatist, best known as the designer of Blenheim Palace. He wrote two argumentative and outspoken Restoration comedies, The Relapse (1696) and The Provoked Wife (1697), which have become enduring stage favourites but originally occasioned much controversy. Vanbrugh was in many senses a radical throughout his life. As a young man and a committed Whig, he was part of the scheme to overthrow James II, put William III on the throne and protect English parliamentary democracy, dangerous undertakings which landed him in the dreaded Bastille of Paris as a political prisoner. In his career as a playwright, he offended many sections of Restoration and 18th-century society, not only by the sexual explicitness of his plays, but by their messages in defence of women's rights in marriage. His architectural work was as bold and daring as his early political activism and his marriage-themed plays, and jarred conservative opinions on the subject.

Sid McMath was a U.S. Marine veteran and progressive Democratic reform Governor of the State of Arkansas from 19491953. In defiance of his state's political establishment, he championed rapid extension of rural electric power, massive highway and school construction, the building of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, repeal of the poll tax, open and honest elections and broad expansion of opportunity for black citizens in the decade following World War II. He remained loyal to President Harry S. Truman during the "Dixiecrat" rebellion of 1948, campaigning throughout the South for Truman's re-election. As a former governor, McMath led the opposition to segregationist Governor Orval Faubus following the 1957 Little Rock school crisis. He later became one of the nation's foremost trial advocates, representing thousands of injured persons in precedent-setting cases and mentoring several generations of young attorneys.

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/23/2005: Wikipedia Daily Article 02/23/2005

http://www.wikipedia.org Wikipedia Daily Article 02/23/2005

In cosmology, the Big Bang is the scientific theory that concerns the early development and shape of the universe. The central idea is that the theory of general relativity can be combined with the observations on the largest scales of galaxies receding from each other to extrapolate the conditions of the universe back or forward in time. A natural consequence of the Big Bang is that in the past the universe had a higher temperature and a higher density. The term "Big Bang" is used both in a narrow sense to refer to a point in time when the observed expansion of the universe (Hubble's law) began, and in a more general sense to refer to the prevailing cosmological paradigm explaining the origin and evolution of the universe. The term "Big Bang" was coined in 1949 by Fred Hoyle during a BBC radio program, The Nature of Things. Hoyle did not subscribe to the theory and intended to mock the concept. In current physical models, the universe 13.7 billion years ago would have had the form of a gravitational singularity, at which all time and distance measurements become meaningless and temperatures and pressures become infinite.

http://www.wikipedia.org Today's Featured Article For Tuesday February 22 2005:

02/20/2005 -

The Brolga is a bird in the crane family. When first described in 1810, the Brolga was misclassified as Ardea, the genus that includes the herons and egrets. It is in fact a member of the Gruiformes; the order that includes the crakes, rails, and cranes, and as a member of the genus Grus. The bird was then given the name Australian crane in 1865 by John Gould. In 1926 the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union managed to make Brolga, a popular name derived from a native tongue, the official name of the bird. It is a common wetland congregating bird species in tropical and eastern Australia, well known for its intricate mating dance.

02/21/2005 - (also on my yesterdays blog too folks so read yesterdays blog as well.)

The Liberal Party of Utah, along with the People's Party, was a local political party that flourished in Utah Territory in the latter 19th century before Democrats and Republicans established themselves in Utah in the early 1890s. The Liberal Party was formed in 1870 to oppose The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the LDS Church; popularly known as the "Mormons"), which dominated local politics. Thus, the Liberal Party represented the non-Mormon side in religiously-charged Utah government. Though vastly outnumbered, the Liberal Party offered an opposing voice and successfully won several local elections. Anti-Mormonism was a central theme of the party until it disbanded in 1893 and was absorbed by the national parties.

And now, for 02/22/2005:
Roe v. Wade was the landmark 1973 United States Supreme Court decision that recognized abortion as a constitutional right, overturning several state laws against abortion. It remains one of the most controversial decisions in Supreme Court history. The decision in Roe v. Wade has sparked a decades-long national debate over when abortion should be legal; the role of the Supreme Court in constitutional adjudication; and the role of religious views in the political sphere. Roe v. Wade became one of the most politically significant Supreme Court decisions in history, reshaping national politics, dividing the nation into "pro-choice" and "pro-life" camps, and inspiring grassroots activism. Roe sparked widespread opposition, from those who viewed the Court's decision as illegitimate for straying too far from the text and history of the Constitution, as well as from those motivated by religious and moral beliefs about the inviolability of fetal life. It also attracted widespread support, from those who view the decision as necessary to achieve women's equality and personal freedom.

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/20/2005: It made me laugh

From the "Politics in the Zeros website, www.polizeros.com, a most interesting protest:

ANANOVA - Police in Germany are hunting pranksters who have been sticking miniature US flags into piles of dog poo in public parks. Josef Oettl, parks administrator for Bayreuth, said: "This has been going on for about a year now, and there must be 2,000 to 3,000 piles of excrement that have been claimed during that time."

The series of incidents was originally thought to be some sort of protest against the US-led invasion of Iraq. And then when it continued it was thought to be a protest against President George W. Bush's campaign for re-election.

Legal experts say there is no law against using faeces as a flag stand and the federal constitution is vague on the issue.

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/19/2005: Biography Of Patrick Timothy McHenry 1975-born (Republican-NC10.)

First Elected 2004 to the Us Congress House of Representatives. A future rising star to watch in the Republican Party, Conservative Movement, and the United States of America.

From Wikipedia.org under Patrick Timothy McHenry:
Patrick T. McHenry
Patrick Timothy McHenry (born 22 October 1975) is a Representative from the 10th Congressional district (map (http://nationalatlas.gov/congdist/Nc10_108.gif)) of North Carolina. He previously served as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives for a single term.

Biography
McHenry was raised in Gastonia, North Carolina and attended Ashbrook High School. A Catholic, he was one of five children; both of his parents are now deceased.

While a student at North Carolina State University and Belmont Abbey College, McHenry chaired the North Carolina Federation of College Republicans and served as treasurer for the national College Republicans organization. His first unsuccessful run for public office was in 1998, while still a student; his Democratic opponent was the father of a high school classmate. After earning a bachelor's degree in history in 1999, McHenry briefly worked for media consulting firm DCI/New Media, overseeing a campaign opposing Hillary Clinton during her 2000 Senate bid.

In the summer and fall of 2000, McHenry worked on George W. Bush's successful 2000 presidential campaign; he was named volunteer coordinator for Bush's inaugural committee. After six months working as a special assistant to the United States Secretary of Labor in Washington, DC, McHenry returned to North Carolina and successfully ran again for the state legislature. A real estate professional, residing in Cherryville, North Carolina, McHenry represented the state's 109th House district, including constituents in Gaston County. While in the legislature, he sat on the House Appropriations Committee.

After only one term in the North Carolina General Assembly, McHenry ran for Congress in the 10th Congressional District, which had come open when nine-term incumbent Cass Ballenger retired. McHenry faced a heavily contested primary in the 10th and bested his closest opponent, Catawba County Sheriff Dave Huffman in a runoff primary by only 85 votes. In the general election, he earned 64% of the popular vote, defeating Democrat Anne Fischer. However, it was generally thought McHenry had won the seat in the Republican primary. The 10th is considered North Carolina's most Republican district, having sent Republicans to represent it since 1963.

At the age of 29, McHenry is the youngest member of the 109th United States Congress; he was also the youngest member of the North Carolina General Assembly during his term in the state House.

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/18/2005: Patrick McHenry - Future President Or Vice President Or Both? You Decide?

In retrospective, I salute yesterdays blog that i gave a blog article from http://newpolitics1.blogspot.com (Democrat Evan Monson and Republican Kyle Rice's blog site indeed) and pasted it into my blog because our News88 team is made up of Conservative/Republicans, Liberal/Democrats, and Middle of the Road Centrist/Moderates of both parties that endorses Libertarian ideologically affiliated candidates and we all believe unanimously that the Libertarian Party is the party of the future to build a permanent third party in the Usa. And we follow that party, so we pasted that from NewPolitics1. This was in no way to mock their blog site at our blog site, and all copyrights of that should be sent to their blog site and not ours. Anyways we have an original blog of ours today written by me, Scot, myself for the 30 of us internet department office enterprises entity empire News88 team members. And here it goes..........................

..........................Patrick McHenry, who represents or now represents the 10th district of North Carolina (R-NC indeed) is a manwho i seriously believe will be a conservative future rising star of the Republican Partyof the United States of America. He was first elected to that district and now begins a federal career in the United States House of Representatives for the 10th District of North Carolina. It is a fairly heavily Republican district and was previously represented by a 9 term Republican, Cass Ballinger. I firmly believe that this young mind, Patrick Timothy McHenry,is what Conservatives and Republicans have reckoned with. This young mind has to be protected for the future of the United States of America. He is what conservatives and republicans need, and i firmly support a draft bid at this website to draft him into the future as to run for President, or Vice President, of the United States of America, or both, by or in 2032, 2036,or 2040. Patrick Timothy McHenry is currently the youngest member of the 109th Congress of the United States of America. The oldest is Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia. I am a Democrat myself, left libertarian leaning in ideology, But i firmly believe that Patrick T McHenry , a famous name in American History and American Politics, is what could become reckoned with. He has to be protected throughout his history of Congress. I support , and we here at News88 also, support his succeeding Cass Ballinger to be elected nine times. And to run for the Us Senate in 2022 after 18 years for the senate seat now held by Richard Burr down there. By that time, Burr most certainly willhave been defeated and/or will retire. Burr is born in the 1950s after all, i believe. 1955. Well, McHenry represents what i believe is anew age and a new destiny in North Carolina politics. Yes, the state used to be heavily democratic as was all southern states and now is moving heavily republican. But,thats notthe light side of it because North Carolina's general assembly state congress is controlled by democratic majorities in bothchambers and democrats controlthe governors mansion and most state offices down there. But the two Us Senate seats are held currently by Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) up again in 2008, first elected in2002. And Richard Burr, first elected in 2004, and up again in 2010. I firmly support for the Burr seat in 2022 after 18 years as a congressman, for the NC 10th District, Patrick T McHenry for the United states Senate. He is what conservatives and moderates alike and theRepublicans party in general are needing. Watch him succeed Cass Ballinger in that district for as many terms,18 years and 9 terms, and in 2022, go on to win the Senate seat now held by Richard Burr regardless of who holds it in between, even Burr himself. Draft McHenry for Senate as soon as 2022 and he can well be on his way to the Presidency or the Vice Presidency,or both , by 2032, 2036, and 2040. This guy is the future of the Conservative movement, Republican Party, and America in general. He must be protected and keep him in Congress for just as long as Cass Ballinger for the 10th district of North Carolina.

We here all 30 of us support his bid in Congress, now as the youngest member in the 109th Congress , House or Senate, by current standards.

Thoughts? Do you agree or disagree?

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/17/2005: Libertarian Party Presidential Prospects Rundown 2008 Showdown

Thanks to Mike Smith2008 Libertarian Party Potential Presidential CandidatesThe Libertarian Party has fielded a presidential candidate in the past nine elections. Their candidate typically gets on most or all state ballots. The high water mark came in 1980, when Ed Clark received nearly a million votes. In 2004, Michael Badnarik received around 400,000 votes, placing fourth. The 2008 election could be a pivotal year for the party. The presidential candidate could be a factor, or could end up having the weakest showing in recent history. Naturally, it all depends on who else runs. A Hillary Clinton candidacy could sabotage all third party efforts, as voters would be polarized like never before. An independent run by a major figure such as a McCain or Ventura could also have a minimizing effect on the LP candidate. The following is a list of the top 20 potential candidates:20 – Michael CloudCloud is the best motivational speaker in the LP. He last ran against Ted Kennedy, where he garnered 19%. Cloud would be a formidable opponent in a debate – if only he could get in.19 – Bill MastersAmerica’s only current Libertarian sheriff (Colorado). Masters would bring a toughness to the slate, but has no large-scale campaigning experience. His main focus would be on the drug war.18 – John StosselFormerly the darling of the liberal media, Stossel is now one of the most hated since he turned his attention to the waste and fraud of big government. Stossel would bring name recognition and a good camera presence.17 – Don GormanGorman is one of the few to have won a statewide elective office as a Libertarian (NH). He was the runner-up to Harry Browne in 2000, but has been mostly inactive since. A man’s man, Gorman is the Ernest Hemingway of the LP.16 – L. Neil SmithSmith is a well-known author. He was the official presidential candidate in 2000 in Arizona when a faction of the LP split off there. 15 – Richard MackA former Sheriff from Arizona, Mack won national recognition by successfully challenging the constitutionality of the Brady Bill. He was also recognized by the NRA in 1995 as the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.In 2004, he was slated to run for governor of Utah, but instead became a contestant on Showtime’s “American Candidate”. He lost.14 – Karen KwiatkowskiA retired Lt. Colonel in the Air Force, Kwiatkowski would bring foreign policy credentials to the ticket. An outspoken critic of the conflict in Iraq, Kwiatkowski writes regular articles for LewRockwell.com13 – Gary JohnsonFormer governor of New Mexico, Johnson made headlines when he suggested that certain drugs should be decriminalized. Though he rebuffed attempts to run for the LP nomination in 2004, Johnson did speak at official Libertarian events. An example of a potential candidate that would only run under the perfect circumstances.12 – Tamara MillayRan unsuccessfully for the VP nod in 2004, and has run for US Senate in Missouri. The VP winner, Richard Campagna, was a huge disappointment, leaving many wishing they had chosen Millay.11 – Gary NolanWas considered the front-runner for the 2004 nomination, but finished third in a very close vote. His association with previous nominee Harry Browne led many to want to go in another direction. Nolan is a former Republican who hosts a nationwide radio show. Obviously, good speaking voice and respectable debater.10 – Bob BarrA former lightning rod Republican congressman, Barr surprised some by endorsing Badnarik for president. Barr is among a number of paleoconservatives who are disappointed with the direction of the Republican Party. His libertarian credentials come in the form of his stand on civil liberties issues. Ironically, Barr was targeted for defeat by the LP in his primary against John Linder. The LP perceived Barr as a staunch drug war defender, an issue that would have to be dealt with to secure the LP nomination. Barr would only run if he thought he could win or be a significant factor.9 – Mary RuwartWith a Ph.D on her resume, Dr. Ruwart lobbied President Bush to become the next commissioner of the FDA. This would have been a coup considering she doesn’t believe the FDA should exist. Ruwart is well known in libertarian circles, and would be a tough opponent for the nomination. 8 – Jacob HornbergerA firebrand libertarian speaker with an on again/off again relationship with the LP. He was perceived as “not a team player” when he sharply criticized the 2000 Browne campaign of financial mismanagement. Still, he has a fair amount of support, and is probably the most uncompromising libertarian out there.7 – Jim GrayCalifornia State Supreme Court Judge would bring his own credentials to the ticket. Gray is a good communicator and has a fatherly presence. An underachieving performance in the 2004 California Senate campaign could derail a presidential bid.6 – Ron PaulCurrently a Republican member of Congress (TX), Paul is known as “Dr. No” due to his repeated “no” votes for anything he deems unconstitutional, and because he is also a doctor. Paul was the 1988 LP candidate for president, coming in third, a first for any LP candidate. A Paul candidacy could spell doom for the Republicans, as Paul is pro-life and could probably also snag the Constitution Party nomination. Paul would probably not give up his congressional seat unless he felt he could win the presidency. Should he throw his hat into the ring, he would be a shoo-in to win the LP nomination.5 - Carla HowellThe leading prospective female candidate, Howell has been very active in Massachusetts politics. She was included in the 2002 gubernatorial debates, and received 12% of the vote (finishing just behind the Republican candidate, who got 13%) in her 2000 Senate race. A respectable speaker and stage presence, Howell could be a female alternative to Hillary.4 – Aaron RussoFamed Hollywood producer (The Rose, Trading Places) was nearly the 2004 nominee. Only a spat with Gary Nolan prevented him from winning (Nolan threw his support behind Badnarik once he was eliminated). Russo’s emotional style is both a help and a hindrance. Clearly, the Howard Dean of the LP.3 – Jesse VenturaFar and away the most interesting scenario, this former wrestler-turned-Minnesota governor describes himself as “socially liberal and economically conservative”. He could shorten that to “libertarian”, but has always carefully avoided doing so. Ventura doesn’t really want the LP nomination, and the LP doesn’t really want Ventura, but it may be a case of each one needing the other. Ventura could ask Nader just how tough it is to get on 50 ballots as an independent, and the LP offers that virtually free of charge. On the other hand, many LPers are getting tired of nominating unknown party purists, and think a celebrity candidate would be the springboard to national prominence. A Ventura candidacy would be purely a marriage of convenience.2 – Ed ThompsonBrother of Tommy Thompson, Ed ran a spirited campaign for governor of Wisconsin. His 11% did not go unnoticed, especially by the Republicans, who secretly blamed him for their loss. Ed would like to run again, but would never run against his brother, who may want his old job back. Thompson is a bit rough around the edges, but brotherly gravitas and his “Rocky Balboa” style would play well in a lot of places.1 – Michael Badnarik2004 nominee has already announced plans to run again. His surprise win at the LP convention was validated by his grasp of the issues and his ever-improving interview skills. Badnarik is also a team player, meaning that if a better known candidate decided to run, he would probably step aside. Not out of the question he would accept a VP slot under that scenario.

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/16/2005: Gay Republicans........And Happy Birthday Janet And Monica!

#1. Happy Birthday Janet And Monica! Today is the birthday of two of my Internet Department Office members and now News88 team members, Janet I Henderson, and Monica K Hallman, who are each turning apiece 27 to 28 (Janet1977) and 25 to 26 (Monica1979) today. Their nicknames are online as mampbajwifey1977 and monica1979 here. Ask them what their nicknames mean, particularily Janet, as i will stay clear out of that one for now. They were born February 16, 1977 and February 16, 1979. If you would like to wish either a happy birthday today, Janet can be reached at janethenderson77@hotmail.com and/or Monica can be reached at hmonicagirl7998@hotmail.com.

#2. Gay Republicans.
Beginning in the late 1970's, Republicans seized control of every branch of the U.S. government in part through vicious gay-baiting.

After Bill Clinton won his first victory in 1992, Republicans immediately and relentlessly attacked him for tolerating gays in the military.

In 2004, Bush and the Republican Party made their opposition to gay marriage the centerpiece of their campaign. They put anti-gay marriage amendments on state ballots to turn out homophobic voters. They furiously attacked John Kerry for pointing out (in a supportive way) that Dick Cheney's own daughter is openly gay.

Now we know Bush's White House waved a gay male prostitute - Jim Guckert - into White House press conferences nearly every day for two years. Guckert, like many closeted gay Republicans, engaged in vicious gay-bashing himself: during the 2004 campaign, he wrote articles accusing John Kerry of running to be the "first gay president."

Americans For Gore 2008: Its the will of the People to elect him

Americans For Gore 2008: Its the will of the people to elect him.By Scot A HussI'm opening this blog site because i for one believe in a common purpose. That common purpose is to elect Al Gore the 44th President Of the United States of America. When 2008 gets here, What kind of country will we be living in? Are we going to be living in a country that does not even look like the country that we left in 2000? Are we going to be living in a country where the needless fall down below the poverty line, and the needyful fall way above the grinds of the rich and the powerful elites? Are we going to be living ina country that Abortion is no longer a right for a woman, and that she has to be forced to have a baby even when she was raped, or a version like incest, or where her health was so far detoriated that she could not have possibly have carried a baby and she died because she just could not carry the baby full term but Abortion was illegal and she had to be forced to carry it full term and was told that if she didnt want it she had to give it up for adoption (which is a good idea, but still this relates to her health of carrying it fullterm) instead of aborting it even though carrying it to full term meant risks of her own life but since Abortion was illegal she had to be forced to risk her health, and possibly got extremely sick detoriorated or even died? Are we going to be living ina country where Gay people dont have the rights (whether as far as marriage or civil unions or just basic human rights?) . Are we going to be living in a country where the middle class has to be squeezed while people that make as much as Bill Gates get pennies from the government? I believe we will, as President Bush believes that too. We need to elect a President who will stand by the people, especially the oppressed and less fortuneate, and we need to elect a president who will fight for the people. We need to elect a President who can unite the Democratic Party on behalf of both wings, and we need someone who will sit in the White House as the taxpayers servent and as the people's servant? We need to elect Al Gore the 44th President Of the United States of America in 2008, and we need to reelect him in 2012. Gore is the fighter America needs and deserves. Regardless if you agree or disagree with me, Gore is the president who will fight for those who need fought for the most, especially those who need to be lifted up and those who will need barriers removed, especially for those who feel that their voices in 2000 were not heard, and especially for those who are less fortunate and needyful. We need to elect Gore the 44th President of the United States of America in 2008. And to be reelected in 2012. Gore is that servant that will long destify for the White House, and he must be the champion of the American People, not of the priviledged classes or the wealthy and powerful rich few, but for all of us. He will give us an agenda for all of us. In the coming years, i will run this website on behalf of Al Gore, plus give other opinions and commentaries on why i believe that Gore is the true saviour of the Democratic Party that can unite Centrists and Liberals of both wings, and take back this country and take back the Democratic Party for the grassroots of the people, not the corporate special interests or the corporate dc lobbyists, and especially not the pollsters and pundits in the Us Media, who do not like him and hated him since he was sworn in with Clinton as Vice President, and have hated him especially during his 2000 campaign for President. We will see the Democrats take the bold progressive step of nominating Al Gore, and he will be elected the 44th President of the united States of America no matter what the Us media, Republicans, or Conservatives say. We will make him President in 2008. almost a penny doubt.Americans For Gore Blog Founder Scot A Hussp.s. I will also post commentaries and articles here about other crucial progressive, liberal and centrist causes of the Democratic Party, as well too as races for House, Senate, and Governor across the country and other local races in 2005 and 2006 leadingup to what i believe fully will become a new Al Gore Presidential Campaign in 2008 to rightfully restore honor, dignity, and respect and dignity to the White House after eight long years of George W Bush-Richard B "Dick" Cheney.I hope that you will join with me in this fight of the grassroots, and help me to help the Democratic Party put Al Gore in the White House in 2008. Al Gore has the right moral values this nation has ever seen from his career in Vietnam to the Vice Presidency of the United States of America, and even with the corporate or academic jobs he has taken since he left the Vice Presidency and won the popular vote for President in 2000. We will elect Gore 2008, and Americans For Gore 2008: its the Will of the people to elect him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/14/2005: National Debt, Deficits, Fiscal Responsibility: Dem Opportunity?

I'd like to hear how Progressive elements of the party would respond to a "fiscal responsibility" plank in the Dem platform.

Bush and the GOP have largely abandoned the facade of caring about spending, balanced budgets, etc. I think this is fertile ground for the Dems to claim as their own, and it would be consistent with Dem/progressive ideals.

The MoveOn commercial showing children working in various jobs illustrated the problem perfectly. Every dollar of debt this country incurs is an obligation to repay that is forced onto the next generation. Right now, every dollar of tax revenue (and a lot more) is spent by the Federal Government. In a sense, it is re-injected into the national economy.

At some point, that flow will have to reverse. As the federal government repays its debt (which will HAVE to happen eventually), money will be pulled out of the national economy and never re-injected. It would be as if the government taxed you by taking away your TV and smashing it...ie, the taxed asset disappears with no future benefits to anyone. This is what will happen as the national debt is being paid off by future generations.

(Stricly speaking, this metaphor only applies to foreign-held debt, but there is enough of that to make the point).

I think the Dems could stake out a valid, Progressivist position on this: STOP SCREWING THE FUTURE.

Kerry proposed reinstating PAYGO rules (budget deficit can't be increased on discretionary programs). I would like to see PAYGO for all federal spending (including entitlement spending). I think an awful lot of voters would like this approach.

Thoughts?

Anyways Happy Valentines Day everyone. And dont forget to keep voting in our poll through March 5th between the World Net Daily and Buzzflash headlines at the bottom of every page on this News88 website. See also the results.

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/13/2005: Ali-Al-Sistani's coalition wins

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/02/13/iraq.main/index.html

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The United Iraqi Alliance, backed by Shiite Muslim Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, won a plurality of votes in the January 30 elections but fell short of an outright majority, the Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq said Sunday.

The results announced are "final uncertified" results -- political parties have three days to file objections before they are certified.

"Today this is a new birth for Iraq, a free Iraq, and free people who aim to build a state based on civilized values and democratic values and the principles of peace and love," commission spokesman Fareed Ayar said.

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/12/2005: NY Times Traces Debt Explosion Under Republicans

(Promoted from the diaries by DavidNYC. Howard Dean says that you can't trust Republicans with your money. Curt, riffing off the New York Times, demonstrates in detail exactly how right Dean is.)

The New York Times today calls attention to "The Revolution That Wasn't". An examination of Republican failure to live up to the promises of their fiscally responsible pledges in the Contract With America, the article quotes Newt Gingrich among others. Reading the early paragraphs a reader might expect that the article is a takedown of Republicans now that they have become the entrenched party of big government. But the article also veers off course by trumpeting Republicans cynical contention that the only way to bring the budget into line is to slash Medicare and Medicaid and make large cuts to the one-half of the budget not spent on defense.

If the history of the Republican revolution were being written today, a single overarching question would have to be answered: Whatever happened to the promise of smaller government?

What indeed?

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/11/2005: Bush (dis)approval ratings

Not much of a mandate, here:

Job performance: 54% disapprove

Handling of Iraq: 57% disapprove

Economy: 56% disapprove

And this is really interesting:

50-64 age group, 56% disapprove; 65+, 57% disapprove; The only group "supporting" Bush is the 30-39, with a measely 51%.

How/why the hell did he get reelected?!

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/10/2005: Shoo-fly, don't bother tourists

Source of the following story: http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/opinion/columnists/heyl/s_303163.html

Only in Pennsylvania would insect control stand a chance of becoming a significant issue in a gubernatorial campaign. Many political observers believe Republican state Sen. Jeff Piccola of Dauphin County will emerge as Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell's GOP challenger next year. Piccola's insect-related criticism of the proposed 2005-06 state budget that Rendell unveiled Wednesday leaves little doubt that he will seek the office. Piccola blasted Rendell over the planned elimination of the Department of Environmental Protection's $4.4 million black-fly control and suppression program. He strongly opposes ending state-financed spraying to reduce the summertime population of black flies -- more commonly...

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/07/2005: How to get a progressive agenda - and the Greens - back into the Democratic Party

It is said that Al Gore's campaign was too "moderate" and it attracted Greenies and Liberals, Democrats, and Progressives to Ralph Nader and his Green candidacy, not realizing that a third party isnt going to win in this country unless you are smart to get rid of the Republican Reactionaries In Congress that cannot stand uniform methods to reform the voting process (because they lose if we ever did this.). But here now I must take a look at some diehard cold facts about Al Gore's campaign in 2000:
1. People Vs Powerful Politics.

2. Social Security and Medicare in a lockbox.

3. Keep the environment clean and safe and secure for the past, present, and the future away from dirty polluters.

4. Avenge Corporate America and help Working America.

5. A strong middle class that fights for peace and prosperity at home and abroad.

AND MUCH MORE WHERE THAT CAME FROM ON THIS LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now take a look at everything Bush is doing since he "won" Election 2000 in a nailbiter close election in which he lost the popular vote the first time around.
That ought to rip the shills off of Ralph Naders slogan from 2000: "Both of the major parties are corrupt and Al Gore is nothing different than George W Bush."
Now i must say that to give Ralph Nader this unibolical equivilent is downright stupid. Nader should be ashamed of himself. Al Gore was a founding member of the DLC - But despite that, and his conservative to moderate voting record as Senator and Representative in Tennessee - He still ran one of the most progressive grassroots campaigns in a great number of years for the Democratic Party.

Gore VS Bush, Nader?

Whos more corrupt Ya Fool?

P.S. Also, dont forget to vote in my News88 Team's online poll - between the World Net Daily Headlines andthe Buzzflash Headlines at the bottom of this page - and every page at this site. I must also clarify that i and my team knows it is early for 2008, but that is not the point because wewill have future polls on both sidesmuch later. In Fact, we willprobably do this once a year through 2007. Or once every 6 months. Butnothing less or more thanthat. but we will also clarify that this is only a poll - AND ONLY THAT! It does not mean my News88team intends to care about a primary three years away. It is just a sample unscientific opinion poll of whom anyone, regardless of affiliation in party or ideology, supports for President in 2008.

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/06/2005: Your preference for a Republican Presidential Candidate in 2008's Election

Alright folks. Listen up. We are going to be doing a poll that will start 02/06/2005 and will end on 03/05/2005 at my blog news site here of the preference for whom you will pick, my surfers at this site which is YOU, on who the Republican Party, in your humble opinion, in my poll, should pick for the nomination in 2008? Here is our how on how we will work this poll in the instructions. The winner of the poll will be finalized as first place and will be finalized and sealed as the poll for President, and the runner up in second place will be finalized as my surfers' best choice for whom that running mate should pick for Vice President. And that will be the final ticket that my News88 team endorses for 2008 for the Republican Party of the United States of America. The 10 choices, and the poll is if you scroll down the bottom of this page in between the World Net Daily Headlines and the Buzzflash headlines, will be consisting of these 10 candidates (5 being moderate republicans and the other 5 being conservative republicans, as i believe firmly that the Republicans should unite both wings of their party with a moderate and a conservative.) Republican voters will have their choice, but anyone can vote in this poll, no matter if your Republican, democratic, or anything. I just want the choice of my news88 surfers as to whom they would like to see as the Republican nominee for President in 2008.

Dont Worry, Democrats preferences will be our March poll. And our April poll will be the General Election matchup, in which ill add the Green Party, Reform Party, Constitution Party, and the Natural Law Party (currently shut down its doors, but we will only list this as the name of the party as with all of the other minor parties. the Democratic and Republican tickets that we finalize after the February 2005 and March 2005 polls will be voted on against each other in our April 2005 poll.) However, I will add three more preferences rather you would like to elect a Libertarian, Libertarian Leftist, or Libertarian Rightie. That is in the general election poll of April 2005 only.

Alright here are the 10 Republicans (5 moderate republicans and 5 conservative republicans coming from either governorships and/or us senate seats currently in their current jobs by a majority.)

1. Former NYC Mayor Rudolph Giuliani
2. Former PA Governor and Former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge
3. NY Governor George Pataki
4. Colorado Governor Bill Owens
5. Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel
6. Tennessee Senator Bill Frist (and also Republican Leader / Majority Leader currently in the Us Senate)
7. Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney
8. Florida Governor Jeb Bush
9. Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman
10. Virginia Senator George Allen

*Note - Alright, My users can vote for a whole month. More Blog News Updates Tomorrow! And ill keep reminding users every day at the end of my blogs to vote in this poll until i close this poll on 03/05/2005. That gives you from the opening day of 02/06/2005. I closed all other startup polls before this one, because I would like to do this in the way the presidential choice process actually goes, that is a Republican primary/caucus season, to a democratic primary/caucus season (the party in power to the party out of power that is first), to a General election November Election on Election Day. that is all, and enjoy the poll, but do not get carried away. Take care from fpot Scot! :)

*Also, make your choice be a meaningful choice as to whom you think deserves The White House in 2008 in your own humble opinion. Do not just fumble through anything. Think the decision over carefully between the ten choices, then vote accordingly after you have thought.

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/05/2005: Heres what Truman said at the 1952 Democratic National Convention about the press and the media

Now this is a fighter against the press and media. Lets all take these words if anyone here ever has intentions to run for federal, state, or local office.

Truman, in his own words, in quotes:
"Now, these Republicans have nearly all of the newspapers and magazines on their side. They may have, and probably will have, public opinion polls --- as in 1948. Well, the pollsters and the press in 1948 acted like Kipleys monkey convention in his famous jungle book. You know, the monkeys had a convention, and the head of the whole simians made a statement, and made a statement, and made a statement. And he kept on making that statement. Finally, the concourse said, "It must be so. We all say so. It must be so, We all say so. It turned out a little differently in 1948. You know, those pollsters and pressmen should have conferred with the people, instead of holding monkey meetings among themselves.

They had control of big business. Look at the advertising figures, if you dont believe it. It has always been against President Roosevelt. It has always been against me. And if it was for me, I'd knew i was wrong! We have gone ahead in spite of it, because the people, in five elections in a row, have shown they dont pay any attention to what the newspapers tell them. And smart writers--the smart writers cant fool the hardheaded voters of the United States Of America.

For the source on this for reading of it entirely yourself, go to this link:

http://www.trumanlibrary.org/publicpapers/index.php?pid=2350&st=&st1=

AND NOW FOLKS, THATS HOW YOU FIGHT THE PRESS AND MEDIA, TRUMAN STYLE!

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/04/2005: Alberto "Mr Torture" Gonzales, Your New United States Attorney General Master Of Law

Et. Al. Alberto Gonzales, the new Attorney General of the United States of America. 60 Republicans and Democrats agree.....Mr Torture can be our attorney general. Might i add that the United States of America, once a land of beacon and opportunity, is headed tothe grinds. Alberto Gonzales could be the worst AG this nation has ever seen. Much worser than John Ashcroft, that religious theocrat known for taking away our great many civil liberties and rights over the last 4 years and creating his Big Brother Spy On American program. Why dont we just enact a new Attorney General of Whatchamacallit? Why not you ask? Well because we have entered into the land of an attorney general that condones torture in foreign lands, military bases, and probably now will raise questionable practices at home. Don't get me wrong, for i think it is wonderful that a Hispanic now sits in the Attorney General's office, but this man has condoned torture. How can anyone not see the truth about this man? Not even the man himself! We as America are on the depths of global ruination. Corporations are seizing this planet. They are beholden only to themselves and they dont care much less aboutanyone but themselves. George W Bush and Richard B Dick Cheney have given us corporate welfare from the top to the bottom, and the bottom to the top. How can anyone withthe heart and the minds of anyone, give us an attorney general who condones torture. And how can 60 senators, regardless of party or ideology, care less about the great traditions this great country has to offer, and support this? This is what this country is coming to: Rule by the wealthy priviledged corporate elites. I will watch this great country smither to the vines over the next four years, or longer, if we dont get a Democrat back in in 2008.? The Republicans have lost their true course. They have seized us with the help of radical and religious theocrat extremists who have seized the Republican Party from the Corporate Elite Right. We must take back this country.....or else we will find ourselves to the depth of ruination. More on this later..........................

News88 Blog Of The Day 02/03/2005: The REAL SOTU Speech

Here is the real context of the real state of the union speech, as prepared for remarks by delivery by Karl Rove , and administered by George W Bush to the United States House Of Representatives and the United States Senate in a joint session of Congress, Wednesday February 2 2005:

Ladies and Gentleman, Boys and Girls, Members of the Us House, Members of the Us Senate, Vice President Cheney and Speaker Hastert, distinguished guests, My fellow Americans:
Today, as i stand tonight behind this podium, We have been given the honor once a year to deliver to this nation and to the World the state of the Union for the great United States of America. It is an honor placed to us by the President as by the Constitution, and i greatly appreciate that honor. When i look out at each of you and to the tv cameras to my fellow american viewers/listeners/surfers/readers whether you take to this by tv, radio, press, or the internet, I am reminded of the America i inherited from my predecessor, Bill Clinton. I am reminded now that in America, we all can achieve greatness and prosperity, if we pillar those living under the guard and we help the ones living up over the guard. But i am also reminded about the America I inherited when i became your President, and therefore i inherited a much different America. Today, as i stand before you, I announce today that our state of the union..........................SUCKS! How could things have gotten the way they were in just four years? Why? I thought i inherited a $500 billion dollar surplus, a strong economy and lowering national debt and deficits by the day, peace and prosperity that was endless, progress in creating 20 million new jobs including the internet dot com sector and the private sector in general, a lowering abortion rate, no fears of discrimination, no troops deployed for any illegal wars, a nation that was confident of the future without fear of attack (s), a nation that was strong and abundant at home and prosperous and a nation that was recognized with allies and friends in the World that was at peace, and a pillar of confidence let alone by the men and women who made the eight years under my predecessor the greatest and the best in the history of the World to move us ahead into the future, far into the future, together? How could things have gone wrong in the last 4 years that i could not have slipped by right past my eye? Sure I inherited the Presidency by a 5-4 vote thanks to my buddies Scalia, Rehnquist, O'Connor, Kennedy, and Thomas on the Court, but in a different sense, who cares about those other 4, They voted for my opponent? Sure My brother Jeb is the best brother in the whole world, and his campaign co-chair for my campaign and his secretary of state, got me into this job with the help of disenfranchising minority voters before and at the polls, and after by not having the votes of those who voted counted, and i let Al Gore concede an election that in the end he had won to begin with? Why, when i came into office those Democrats led by them rascal liberals from New York State and Massachusetts, Senators Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy, They did everything they can to surpass the liberal wing of that party in disenfranchising all of my votes even ina Republican ran Us Senate, and Us House. but by May 2001, as the public was growing disingenuous of my party controlling everything, That mean evil senator Jim Jeffords in my party threw his bone away from the Republicans and said he didnt like me and my party anymore so he wasgoing to caucus with the Democrats and become an Independent. But thank god he gave me my huge pieceof legislation, My 1.6 trillion dollar reduced to 500 Billion dollar tax cut before he did, otherwise i would not have had the chance to create jobs and build a new economy for the American People. Yet by 2002, didnt i not realize those same tax cuts were shipping those jobs overseas. Damn Ceos. And i used to be one of them, for i didnt see anything in the light of partisan bickering so i decided to send my media minion friends on a wild goose chase over Gary Condit that CONSERVATIVE DEMOCRAT LEANING REPUBLICAN IN VOTES Democrat from California so we decided to waste the entire three months accussing him of a crime that the courts said he did not commit or didnt have anything to do with that intern Chandra Levy. And heck, My that intern was speaking with my own Vice President Dick Cheney before she was even speaking around Condit. But the day that defined myPresidency was when the sissy Democrats decided to come over to my side, yes September 11 2001. It well all went downhill from there, and i united this country like a uniter, not divider that i had hath promised to us all. And from that day forward up until Enron was broken loose and all of that corporate corruption could have scandalized me in the 2002 midterm elections, I won a huge majority of votes in the 2002 election. I gave myself the will of the doubt, so i decided to help use the majority of Americans for political gain after the terrorist attacks for a legal war against terrorism and turned it into an illegal war against Iraq so that i can achieve what my Daddy never did: To Topple That Madman Hussein Saddam once and for all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And so i guess folks what im trying to say is, after 1500 dead soldiers, and after none other than an illegal war now that all of my administration lied about, We have decided after rigging a second term with the help of our media minion friends led by the architect Karl Rove even when the AmericanPeople wanted John Kerry that no good liberal from where now, I decided to pursue us on another course in my second term. We have decided to pursue the course of neglect to an economy and the poor and the middle class, and propose that we discriminate against gays and ban gay marriage in the Constitution, pursue a culture of life for FETUSES and leave the rest of the humanity behind, dirty up the environment and pollute the air water and land with my capitalist cronies unregulated, and believe me, the next war i start will be a legal one - against the Democratic Party for defeating my daddy in 1992!

I guess i learned my lesson now folks. And the stateof the Union.....SUCKS!

Thank you, God Bless America, And goodnight to my friendsin the oil industry for an endorsement of rebuilding Iraq and making us secure and safe at home.

***While hes reading this, bombs go off over Baghdad, Iraq, Kabul Afghanistan, and Washington DC and NYC. So you made us secure and safe Mr President? Well what about those losses of jobs, what about those moral values, what about what??????????????????????????

TO BE CONTINUED.....WHEN WE GET A NEW PRESIDENT!

News88 Blog Of The Day Debut 02/02/2005: Rudy Giuliani Vs Eliot Spitzer, or Both?

Alright folks, Its now time for you to be the odds on favorite for me and my 29 news88 crew members. You, are going to email me at scottieboy19791998@hotmail.com and let me know how you think about what i posted yesterday in the blog about who the next governor of NY should be. Starting at 1975, Democrats ruled New York with Hugh L Carey for eight long years and Mario M Cuomo for 12 long years. But, here is the bright side, When a little known state senator George E Pataki beat Mario M Coumo in 1994 for his fourth term bid, Pataki became the governor only to serve three full terms himself. Now it seems as if Pataki is either sure to retire or sure to get beat with low approval ratings, and now it seems as if we will see New York possibly go back to the Democrats, unless Rudy Giuliani, the popular former Mayor of NYC run for Governor of NY. I will admit Giuliani is a fine man, and he would make an interesting Republican tosit in the Governors Mansion. After all, If he can handle NYC, Could he handle NY State? I think its a definite possibility but i also feel that there is a nasty side and tone to Giuliani that may be appreciated by the people of NYC, but for the rest ofthe state he probably would not win. But he did serve as US Attorney for the whole state of NY before he became Mayor in 1993-1994, so i assume that Giuliani could still succeed to a good post of being Governor after the after math of his popularity in the 911 terrorist attacks on NYC that rocked and devastated not only there but also rural PA, the rest of the country and America, and Washington DC. I think it is a probability that i myself would support Rudy Giuliani for Governor for about atleast 1 or 2 terms after Pataki. However, if Giuliani is not the nominee, the Governors Mansion at Albany NY is almost all but surely certain to go to the Democrats as they have already seen Current Attorney General Eliot Spitzer run for that post in 2006 on the Democrats' side. But the democratic side has lots of problems to overcome even in this heavily democratic state, and the Republicans could still find a way in challenging Spitzer with someone as strong and well-liked as the popular Giuliani, especially in the aftermath of the NYC attacks. I think if i were to rate this, I would endorse and fully support Eliot Spitzer for the Governorship as he is a candidate, but that if the Republicans put up Pataki or any lowname Republican i would definitely back down on them and keep with Spitzer, the current AG of NY State. However, but, this is the core light side of it, Eliot Spitzer does get beat out in my humble opinion by Rudy Giuliani, as i believe Giuliani should become Governor in NY in 2006. So what do you all think, post anything you want in the comments of my blog of the day today, and take care. :)

fpotusahuss20321979/mister1979 Scot A Huss

p.s. I guess apparently i will also say that Giuliani would have my goahead even over Spitzer. But i do fully support Spitzer, and i believe Giuliani will either probably pass on challenging both him and Hillary and Hillary Clintons reelection to the Senate in NY will be all but assured, and so will Eliot Spitzer, even if Pataki wins a fourth termbid , be all but assured of winning for a new Governor in NY. The next Governor of NY is all but certain to be Eliot Spitzer, but it could become Rudy Giuliani. We will keep posted for what the Democratic Party and the Republican Party does between now and November 2006 in that General Election. So far i am 3 Democrat endorsements and 1 republican endorsement, though the third is in the same state as the Republican endorsement, because in NY's governors race the Gubernatioral 2006 Election I endorse Eliot Spitzer for Governor, as a Democrat, however though i Still endorse Rudy Giuliani over Spitzer if he getsin onthe Republican side. Rudy is credible, and would make an outstanding Governor just like as Us Attorney and the former mayor of NYC, particularliy after the 911 attacks when he really became a popular famous historic NYC Mayor for his symbolic heroism.
